GenZ Opinions on School

By Priyanka

In the modern age, Gen Z students are faced with a variety of issues in school, from cyber and in-person bullying to the use of technology to support learning. With the rise of technology, Gen Z students are more exposed to cyberbullying than ever before. Generation Z is aware of the power of social media and video games in bullying. Both social media and video games can be used to spread hateful messages, target vulnerable students, and pick on people behind an anonymous account. They understand that cyberbullying can be just as damaging as physical bullying, and they are determined to make sure that their schools are safe from online harassment. Cyberbullying can take many forms, from sending threatening messages to posting embarrassing photos or videos online. In-person bullying is also still a problem, with students being targeted for their physical appearance, race, or sexual orientation. They are also more likely to report cyberbullying when they see it, and they are more likely to support their peers if they are being targeted online.

Generation Z is also more likely to take proactive steps to prevent bullying in their schools. Most report that they join clubs and organizations which promote acceptance and respect, and would like to be part of anti-bullying campaigns. Generation Z is also more likely to seek help from adults when they witness or experience bullying. They understand that adults can provide support and guidance, and they are more likely to reach out to teachers and administrators when they need help. They are increasingly aware of the importance of support clubs in schools. Support clubs can provide a safe space for students to talk about their issues and concerns, and can also provide a platform for students to express their opinions and ideas. Support clubs can also be used to help students develop leadership skills and build relationships with their peers. Clubs for minorities like Muslims, Sikhs, and members of the LGBTQ+ are creating safer spaces for students while promoting acceptance of diversity.

The environment that teachers create for students is also important for Gen Z students. Gen Z students are more likely to be engaged in the classroom if they feel that their teacher is supportive and understanding. They are also more likely to be successful if they feel that their teacher is willing to listen to their ideas and provide constructive feedback. They feel welcomed if their teacher is open to new ideas and approaches to learning. Teachers and parents are responsible for creating safe and welcoming environments for their students/children, and while many students believe their parents are doing well at it, some feel that their teachers choose not to listen to their needs, continuing to teach in the ways they feel is correct.

In recent years, the debate over whether schools are providing Gen Z students with the technology they need to succeed has been a hot topic. Gen Z, the generation born between 1995 and 2010, is the first generation to grow up with technology as an integral part of their lives. As a result, Gen Z students have come to expect technology to be a part of their education. On one hand, some argue that schools are not providing Gen Z students with the technology they need to succeed. They point to the fact that many schools are still using outdated technology, such as chalkboards and overhead projectors, which are not conducive to the modern learning environment. Furthermore, many schools lack the resources to provide students with the latest technology, such as tablets and laptops, which are essential for students to stay up to date with the ever-changing world of technology. On the other hand, some argue that schools are providing Gen Z students with the technology they need to succeed. They point to the fact that many schools have implemented modern technology, such as interactive whiteboards and online learning platforms, which allow students to access educational materials from anywhere.
